In a lawsuit that reads more like a rejected Snapping Good plotline, Vinko Bovlic — famed author of the beloved book franchise — has filed a $148 billion claim against Elon Musk. The reason? Allegedly unauthorized use of “Poop the Gurt,” a character from the 332 trillionth book in the multiverse, in a Dogecoin-themed crypto scam called “GurtCoin.”
According to Bovlic, Musk’s meme-heavy promotion campaign for GurtCoin included a crudely animated gif of Gurt winking and tossing coins. The caption: “Snap into financial freedom. #Gurt2025.”
“This is a betrayal to the Snapping Good fandom,” Bovlic stated in a livestream press conference. “Gurt is not a financial advisor. He is a magical salamander who lives in a teaspoon.”
Legal documents cite emotional distress, intellectual property violation, and "crypto defamation.” Tesla representatives have declined to comment, though Musk tweeted a shrug emoji followed by “$G$RT to the moon.”
As of this writing, GurtCoin is down 98% in value, and Reddit user “GurtLoveCoin” has Gurt on his leg. Bovlic fans are reportedly gathering for a candlelight vigil at a Barnes & Noble in Ohio!
